The (Anti) Barbie Trend

In Meghan Trainor's hit single "All About That Bass", she emphases the goodness and beauty towards curves and her dismissal against the "Barbie" look.

In Nicki Minaj's hit song "Anaconda" she also raps about almost the same concept as Meghan Trainor, but more explicitly. Both of these songs are and seem to be "anti-barbie" themed, putting curvy woman more into the light of the media with their songs. This seems to be a common trend in the music industry at the moment.

WARNING: EXPLICT

Now, in the fashion industry, the opposite has occurred. In Wild Fox's 2014 Barbie Collection : Dreamhouse, their theme and inspiration is well...Barbie! They had Merethe Hopland (@merethehopland) and Kirby Griffin (@kirbygriffin21) pose as real life barbies in their 2014 lookbook on their site.

Even in Moschino Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collection, their theme and inspiration was Barbie as well.

It's interesting how the fashion and the music industry are currently representing opposite sides of this trend.

Did you recognize this trend before now?

Fall 2014 Fashion: Forever 21 Haul

Happy October everyone! I absolutely love October! I enjoy all the pumpkin flavored goodies and of course the fall fashion that comes along with this month.  What I don't like about this month, are all the midterms and essays I have to write for college (nooooooo). I wanted to write a blog post to distract myself from the stress of school and work and to try to keep this blog updated once in a while!

I went on a little online shopping spree on Forever21.com and took advantage of their $50+ shipping!

Of course I got really excited when I saw the package in the mail. I ran to my room and started to take pictures of everything.

Medallion Print Tank: $6.90
Size: Small
I usually hate turtle necks, so I have no idea why I bought this, but I'm so happy that I did! It's really comfortable, flattering and the turtle neck isn't that tight.

Faux Leather-Trimmed Joggers: $17.80
Size: XS
I don't own any pair of sweatpants at all (weird I know), so I wanted to finally buy a pair. I am absolutely happy with my new gray joggers with a faux leather top trim. I actually want to buy another pair, but in black! I definitely recommend buying joggers for the fall/winter because they are so comfortable and fashionable at the moment. I got a size XS in the LOVE21 brand, since they run a bit bigger.

High-Waisted Acid Wash Jeans: $22.80
Size: 24
I've been wanting a pair of high waisted jeans for the past 2 years and I finally found a pair that I like in my size. I really wanted a pair of high waisted jeans so I could wear some crop tops in the fall and winter without freezing my butt off. I love how these jeans are true to the size and actually fit my waist! My only problem with these jeans is that I wish that they were a bit longer. Then again, it's very difficult for me to find jeans that are long enough for my legs sadly.

Layered Geo Pendant Necklace: $3.80
I wear this necklace all the time, it matches with a lot of my outfits! I love how it's small and delicate and how amazing the price was!

Miniature Hair Clip Set: $1.80
A bunch of little hair clips that I need to keep my hair in place with the upcoming wind and frizz at an amazing price?! Why not!!

Solid Crew Sock Set: $5.00
Lastly, I got 3 pairs of black crew socks for $5! This was such an amazing deal, I should have bought another bundle, since my socks do go missing after a couple of months. I wear these socks with my gray/cream and black canvas platform shoes. A staple for me this fall!

Have an amazing day everyone!

Loreal Paris Miss Voluminous Manga Waterproof Mascara REVIEW

I never really buy Loreal Paris mascaras, but when I saw the commercial for "Miss Voluminous Manga, I knew I had to get it and do a review.

The brush

I was extremely disappointed with the brush. The brush was clumpy all over and the thistles on the tip were mashed up together. Over all the brush looked like someone used it then wrapped it up again to sell in the store.
Maybe I got a bad brush, the runt out of all the mascaras and hopefully not all the brushes are like this in stores.

Left- No Mascara
Right- Mascara
The effects of the mascara are pretty decent. Just the brush being all clumpy makes the application a bit of a bother and mascara gets on the eyelids easily if you're not carefully.

The mascara didn't really give me the huge "manga" lash look that the advertisement promised. Not that much volume at all, but there is a bit of length.

On a good note, the waterproof aspect of the mascara is excellent! You won't have to worry about this mascara running down your checks or smudging around your eyes.

Waterproof: 9/10
Length: 5/10
Volume: 3/10
Clump Free: 3/10
Overall: 5/10

I'm starting college in about a week, but I still promise that I will put aside some time and post more reviews!

Progress DIY: Crystal Heart Sunglasses

I am now 18! I'm officially an adult! How exciting!
My birthday was just this past week and I want to make a post about it, but I have to take pictures of my presents still. In the meantime I wanted to share with you guys my latest DIY project, my Crystal Heart Sunglasses.
I bought these sunglasses and 1,000 AB rhinestones on eBay for a super cheap price! I absolutely love these AB rhinestones because they change colors depending on the light!

It took me about 90 minutes to glue the rhinestones on the glasses with industrial glue. I had to stop after awhile because the fumes were giving me a headache and I wasn't wearing a mask.
I still need to add more rhinestones on both sides of the glasses to complete it.

OOTD: California Winter

This winter hasn't been that cold here in sunny California, but lately it's been getting colder and colder and it even started raining just a couple of days ago! Believe it or not, a lot of parents didn't even let their kids drive to school or any where because of the extreme wind and rain conditions we experienced. To act so rashly about the rain is normal for us Southern Californians (most of us have never even seen snow before), but I'm pretty sure all of you guys living in the East Coast or even in other countries with extreme winter conditions would be laughing if you saw how we handle ourselves with just a little rainstorm.

On a fashion note, this is one of the outfits I wore to school leading up to those cold rainy days.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Military Jacket: Windsor
Tights: Target
Boots: Cathy Jean
